Is Mary Tyler Moore starting to look somewhat corpse-like? Her face looks very, very taut. There is definitely a going through a wind tunnel expression to her. I believe she has had several rounds of plastic surgery and has in the past year or two gone back for more! As if she needs it. It is a scary thought. The first plastic surgery I believe she had was on her nose and then she started ‘working’ on the rest of her face.
There really is not a point in getting face lifts at an advanced age, because your hands will give you away. You can’t have those lifted as well.

Comment by Dr Yazdanfar — December 2, 2008 at 8:04 am I don’t think getting a facelift is useless. What’s more important, pretty hands or a pretty face? Anyway, I think she’d benefit more from injectables to fill out those wrinkles. Her jowls aren’t so bad (a facelift generally fixes the jowls more than the wrinkles).
Comment by mytwocents — December 2, 2008 at 12:41 pm MTM has had that corpse-like look for years already. She’s had way too much done over the years and she looks hideous. Her neck looks as bad as her face does. There’s no point at all in face lifts after a certain point because not only do the hands give you away, but so does the neck and upper chest/cleavage area. Nothing looks more nauseating than a older woman with an unnaturally smooth complexion, and the rest of the body looks mummified. No wonder we only ever see Priscilla Presley’s face. She keeps the rest of her body totally covered in clothes. Even her hands!
Comment by Jordan — December 4, 2008 at 12:01 pm I don’t think she loks like she’s had a face lift at all. She’s still wrinkly and able to smile. She looks like an older woman aging nicely.
Comment by Margrrret — December 5, 2008 at 1:01 pm Mary Tyler Moore is a diabetic, and they cannot tolerate a lot of the anesthesia drugs- those suppress their respiration. Diabetics are not supposed to have voluntary surgery, since being put out is so dangerous. I’m sure she’s had some less-invasive procedures, but this might be a deep peel, not a face lift- my stepmother got very face lifty results from chemical peels. MTM is 72- she’s got some years on her!
Comment by jm — December 5, 2008 at 8:05 pm MTM has had a LOT of work done over the years. The nose, yes. And her eyes have looked hollowed out for many years now. Not to mention the too-big teeth. She was beautiful before all that work, and so talented. Now I can barely look at her.
Comment by SpookCat — December 8, 2008 at 7:57 pm I disagree with the first post who not surprisingly is a doctor, of what may I ask Plastic Surgery????
Comment by boogaloobaby — December 9, 2008 at 10:22 pm This is the thing, some people do not age well. MTM is one of them. Years ago, about 15, I saw her walking in Central Park. We were walking in opposite directions. She was wearing shorts, and I have got to say she did not look good, her body’s skin, at least her legs, was saggy and wrinkly. Women like MTM would have done themselves a lot of good to have eaten more fish, to have gotten the good fats, the omega-3 fats. It really protects you from aging that way. I heard, or read (I don’t remember), an interview of Lena Horne’s, it was years ago, too–she said that the reason why she had no wrinkles was because she ate a lot of salmon. Don’t be afraid of fats, they will help you age gracefully. Of course, they have got to be the good fats. Check out the website wapf [dot] org (or is it “com”?) It is for the Weston A. Price Foundation.
Comment by AzzedineAliaFan — December 19, 2008 at 4:18 pm Wow, i don’t know who looks worse, her or Joan Rivers. It’s sad, she looks horrible, why not accept that you are goign to get old and stop trying to defy it? just eat right, take vitamans and work out?? i’m sure she’s starving herself.
Comment by Roberta Mann — December 30, 2008 at 10:28 pm Diabetics have serious issues with blood flow and healing. Elective surgery would be incredibly risky, especially as one ages, as age in itself lends itself to delayed healing. Both diabetes and age leaves a great risk for developing keloids. As such an outspoken woman for diabetics I would hope she’s not taking any foolish risks for the sake of vanity.
